Squiby General Community Guidelines
Most cases, you will get one, two or three warning(s) before you are banned, but there are cases of insta-ban, so follow the rules!
• Be Nice and Don't Be StupidSquiby has a very nice community, so I don't think I really need to say this, but just in case. No insults, no death threats, no harassing (especially harassing artists, for passwords or a private pet), no false reporting, no excessive caps in posts or titles (which is yelling on the Internet), no flaming, no trolling, no "banning" people from your thread, no fighting (debates are fine, but not mud slinging), no name-calling, no dictating, etc. This also applies in roleplaying; just because you're in character does not mean you can break the rules.
• No Spam/Chain MessagesYou know those "If you read this you can't stop!!" or "If you repost this 10 times, you'll get kissed by your crush!" messages, right? Yeah, they're just plain annoying. They aren't true at all either, if you're thinking about that. I've read a lot in my Internet life; my mother is still alive, no one has climbed into my room to stab me to death at midnight, and I haven't gotten to kiss my boyfriend yet (don't ask XD). Also, try to not post too many one-word spammy posts, at least think of a small sentence to add.
Take a screenshot of any spam and/or chain mail and report it to an admin. Chainmail spammers will be instantly banned after reported. DO NOT SPAM!
• Adoptables Must Be Drawn BY YOUThat means you are not allowed to Google/Bing/image search for cute pets, save that image and upload. You aren't allowed to use others' art, pictures, sprites, or anything. It HAS to be drawn BY YOU. You are allowed reference something, but tracing will probably get you in trouble. See the this thread for more on creating.
Report any stolen art you find. If it is your own art, try to contact the person and ask them nicely to delete it, explaining that it's against the rules to use others' art. If they refuse or don't reply, report them and it will be deleted.
• Password AdoptablesIt is against the rules to share passwords with other users. The only person who is allowed to share passwords is the creator of the pet. Don't harass the artist, but if possible, contact them and ask them for the password. If they don't reply or say no, the world will not end, you can live without the pet.
Both sharing passwords OR asking for them will result in a warning as it shows you have not read this.
• Keep it PG-13There are children who visit the site, so try to keep it family friendly. No NSFW (Not Safe for Work) links, no graphic nudity in adoptables, no porno roleplays, and try to keep your language as clean as possible. PG swears are fine, but posts with a swear every other word will be deleted, that includes censored swears.
• Look and Think Before You PostIf there's already a topic on something closely related to what you want to talk about, post in THAT thread. There is no need to have 500 different Pokemon, "Random :3 XD" chat, Warrior Cat, or "My pet's not leveling!" bug threads; just keep it in one SINGLE thread. If you want to talk more one-on-one with someone about a topic, that's what profile comments and mail is for. Don't open up personal chat threads.
• No Double PostsThe edit button is there for a reason, it's above your avatar, . Exceptions are allowed (ie your click thread is on the 2nd page, but you're still open, you may bump it up), but for the most part, editing it a better way to add more.
• Keep On TopicA bit chit-chat is fine, but, for example, using your species thread as a click thread or MSN is frowned upon.
• Pets Belong in Click ThreadsPosting pets or asking for clicks any where besides the Click Me! section is against the forum rules.
Unless you have a bug or the thread owner says you can, you shouldn't post pets' codes in someone else's click thread, it's more polite to tell the person what you'd like clicked back. Perhaps open your own thread, post your pets for clicking there and link to it saying something like "Please click the pets here *link* when you click back" when you visit others' threads.
• Multiple AccountsThere is no current rule against having more than one account on Squiby, but I recommend not opening more than one for personal use. Opening one to upload a large collection of themed adoptables that you don't want clogging up your personal account is alright for example, but there is an adoption limit (2500 for non-gold) on accounts for a reason. Once you hit that limit, you might want to look into deleting some pets rather than starting a new account, just in case the rules change later. So this is just a fair warning.
• Always Read Important Announcements and Sticky ThreadsThere's important things in sticky threads, always read them. Especially if it's section specific rules.
• Helpful Info
Deleting Your Post DOES NOT Delete the ThreadIf you want to delete a thread, deleting your post does not work, the thread is still there; it's just empty. Now someone else has to go behind you and post again because admins need there to be at least one post in a thread to delete it. Just ping an admin to the thread you want deleted.
Don't Talk to YourselfPosting a comment on YOUR profile does not notify the person you want to talk or reply to. Click on their username, scroll down to their comment area, and leave your comment THERE or else, the only way they'll see the comment you left them is if the happen across your profile again.
Taking ScreenshotsThere's a few ways to take a picture of your screen. Here's one way that doesn't require you to download anything extra, you just use your Print Screen button and probably Paint. Personally, I use a great program called Screenhunter. It's free and really simple to use, it's Windows only though.
Reporting and Admins To report stolen adoptables/spam, you should post a thread here. For other more serious, private matters, it's probably best to contact an admin (pink shirts) directly. I'm on daily and I'd be happy to help.
Other Issues/Problems/Questions/Concerns/HelpIf you think you have a bug or question, please read the FAQ post. For a list of bugs, read this post. If those didn't answer your questions, feel free to ask me (on my profile or mail) or post about it somewhere. I encourage you to post smaller questions/issues in the FAQ thread rather than starting a new topic on it though. Wanna keep the forums clean, you know.
Thank you for reading and enjoy your time at Squiby! :D Shame on you if you didn't, go back and read it, silly. :P
