Guardian Lion
A guardian lion is from classic Chinese mythology. Statues of them are often found in pairs: the male lion has his paw resting on an orb, and the female with her paw pinning down a lion cub.
Sometimes called a "foo dog" in the West, they also have similar relatives in the "Shisa" of Japan.
