opal domestic dragon
Like the rest of it's domesticated kin, it is a flightless variety of dragon, with no speaking vocal cords. It is, however, intelligent enough to learn and understand a language, and to give basic 'yes/no' replies via nodding or shaking it's head. It can also communicate with facial and bodily expressions. In rare cases, they can be taught to scratch writing in the soil with a single talon, but only after years of learning with a dedicated handler. They have wings, but are flightless. They instead, use their wings to control body temperature, sunning them to warm up and fanning them to cool down. They can also be used to cover a rider in the rain or from harsh winds. This particular variety is known for it's spontaneity, and is quite rare. Riddle! Seven letters, no capitals! With a look of wonder I did watch him float across the sky with pearly wings, as he chased the thundering clouds, with the sun closing in on his tail. He wore such gaudy things, and did not mind my gaze at all. After a while, I chased his tail about as it seemed to drag upon the ground, but I never did find it. Who was he?
